Jamie Dixon Net Worth And Career

Jamie certainly has pocketed a massive sum from his over three-decades-long career. From a player to the head coach, the coach’s journey has been glorious.

Earning As A Player

The TCU head coach’s playing career started at his high school. He continued his playing career by joining the TCU men’s basketball team, TCU Horn Frogs. As a TCU student-athlete, Dixon played for the coach, Jim Killingsworth, and was one of the best players. He turned professional immediately after his graduation.

Jamie was selected by the Washington Bullets, now known as Washington Wizards, in the seventh round of the 1987 NBA draft. However, he was cut by the team early. Afterward, the former player considered getting a job related to his bachelor’s degree but ended up joining La Crosse Catbirds for $400 per week.

In 1989, Jamie played for Hawke’s Bay Hawks in the NBL. As reported by Josecolorado, NBL players earn from $13K to $500K per year. However, also in the late 80s, the former player must have made according to his worth. Thus, Jamie Dixon’s net worth must have benefited from his salaries.

During a 1990 game in Netherland, he suffered a rare basketball injury, a rupture of the pancreas. It must have been hard for the coach as he had to put an end to his playing career. Although he had a short playing career, he seems to have earned a significant amount.

Earnings As A Coach

Dixon began his coaching career back in 1989 as the head coach for a school in New Zealand. Later he came back to Los Angeles and joined LA Valley College as their assistant coach.

Eventually, after serving in five teams as an assistant coach, Dixon landed his first job as the head coach in 2003 in Pittsburgh Panthers. Before that, Jamie was involved with the University of Pittsburgh as an assistant coach for about four years. In 2016, TCU hired him as their 22nd head coach

Jamie Dixon was paid $1.6 million per season while he coached for the Pittsburgh Panthers. However, in 2014, he earned $3.2 million, the base amount plus incentives. Moreover, even as an assistant coach of the team, he must have earned a significant amount.

Jamie first signed the six years contract with TCU, but it was extended to two more years in 2018. Furthermore, the head coach again signed a three-year extension in 2022 that will take him through 2027-28. With the new deal, Jamie Dixon’s previous salary of $3.4 million is also bound to rise.

Hopefully, Jamie Dixon’s net worth continues to rise in the future. Mike Krzyzewski is another collegiate head coach who has earned millions.
