Born Catherine Michelle Granato, she became one of the first women to be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in November 2010. However, as Cammi has been a role model to many young girls to follow their dreams, there’s more to know about her life story. Born In A Hockey-Crazed Family

Cammi was born on March 25, 1971, in Downers Grove, Illinois, U.S. She was welcomed into this world by her dad, Don Granato, and mom, Natalie Granato. Cammi Granato’s father, Don, was a beer distributor who played amateur hockey. Furthermore, details regarding her mom haven’t been revealed yet; however, she must have been supportive.

Likewise, the sportswoman grew up alongside four brothers, Tony Granato, Rob Granato, Joe Granato, and Don Granato, and one sister, Christina Granato. Her elder brother, Tony, played on various teams in the National Hockey league and previously coached the Colorado Avalanche. While her other sibling, Don, serves as the head coach of the Buffalo Sabres. All four sons played hockey growing up.

Moreover, Granato was always passionate about playing ice hockey, and her parents only supported her after seeing her dedication. As a result, she started playing hockey when she was five.

Furthermore, talking about her educational qualification, Cammi graduated from Providence College with a bachelor’s degree in social sciences. Later, in 1997, she earned a master’s degree in sports administration from Concordia University.

Cammi has dedicated her 15 years to playing ice hockey. Following the end of her playing career, she began serving as an assistant general manager at the Vancouver Canucks organization. Granato began playing hockey in 1976. Then in 1989, she began playing college hockey at Providence College. After her playing career ended, Granato served as a rinkside reporter for NBC’s NHL coverage and color commentator for NBC’s coverage of women’s ice hockey at the Winter Olympic Games in 2010. Currently, she is an assistant general manager for the Vancouver Canucks organization. Aside from that, the former hockey player has also published a book, I Can Play Too, where she has advocated for girls. It is also based on her some personal experiences.

Landon is a professional Canadian ice hockey center who previously played for Detroit Red Wings.
