Chris Mooney Net Worth And Career

With a coaching career spanning almost three decades, Mooney has undoubtedly amassed considerable wealth from his profession. Having served as a head coach for four different teams, including a high school, it is plausible to believe his source of income is significant. Hence, Chris Mooney’s net worth must be massive.

After finishing college, the Pennsylvania-born athlete started his coaching career at the Lansdale Catholic High School in Lansdale. He took charge of the team for three years before leaving for Beaver College, which is called Arcadia University now. He spent another three years with Beaver but then went to the United States Air Force Academy to work under head coach Joe Scott.

Likewise, Airforce appointed Mooney as the head coach for a year in 2004, when Scott left the team to join Princeton University. With his success with the Airforce team, Chris impressed many people and was hired by the University of Richmond as a head coach in 2005. Now, he competes with the likes of Bob McKillop.

Moreover, in March 2011, the university announced that Mooney had signed a new contract through the 2020-21 season. After a great run to the Sweet Sixteen, he was offered a contract in the 2011 NCAA Men’s Division I Basketball Tournament. When his contract was about to expire in 2022, Chris signed a new two-year deal until the 2023-24 season. Having achieved the 240th win on December 1, 2018, Chris became the coach with the most wins in Richmond history.

According to IRS forms, Chris’ salary as the head coach was $1.1 million annually with his last contract extension. Having served the team for a long time, he must have garnered a reasonable sum of money. Thus, Chris Mooney’s net worth must be adequate.

His Wife Has A Doctorate/ Parents Of Two

Mooney does not just enjoy success in his career; he is also successful in his marriage. Chris is married to Lia Mooney, formerly Lia Chomat, a Princeton graduate. The specifics of their wedding have not been revealed as Chris Mooney’s beau looks pretty private about her personal life.

Chris Mooney’s wife has a doctorate in psychology from Pennsylvania. The husband and wife are of supportive nature. They both were very helpful to one of the students in Richmond. When a Richmond student was told her father had died of suicide, Mooney and his spouse helped Robyn Jacobs return home and plan the funeral. In addition, as a payback for their help, Robyn invited them to her wedding, and Lia was one of her bridesmaids.

Chris and Lia have welcomed two sons together. Their first child, Danny Mooney was born in 2009. Likewise, their youngest is Ryan Mooney. Chris Mooney’s children must be growing up together away from the media scrutiny.

Nevertheless, the famous coach has been a part of Richmond’s history and accomplished much. Let’s hope he can keep doing that and make his family proud.
