Friedman attended Episcopal High School based in Houston. He played baseball during high school as a center fielder and leadoff hitter. Moreover, his dad played as an infielder at the school.

He played for the Green Wave team in the fall of his first year on a center field. Unfortunately, he was hit by a pitch, due to which he broke his left hand. The following year too, he separated his left shoulder, and this was the end of his collegiate career.
