Peter was born George Peter DeBoer on June 13, 1968, to Dutch father Fred DeBoer and Canadian mother, Sylvia DeBoer. His dad came to Canada from the Netherlands at eighteen and started working on a farm in Manitoba. Likewise, Peter DeBoer’s father then worked for five years in the nickel mines. Later, Fred met his future wife Sylvia in Manitoba and after a while, the pair moved to Ontario and started an environmental business.

Moreover, Peter DeBoer’s mom worked as an X-Ray technician at a hospital in Hamilton. The former is also pretty close with his younger sister, Tanya Chadwell.
