In 2009, Sano migrated to Italy and eventually to America due to security reasons. He was kidnapped twice, which made him leave the country. In January 2019, he became a U.S. citizen.

Antonio attended the Simón Bolívar University, where he pursued Electronic Engineering. However, he dropped out in order to train racehorses.

Among his remarkable achievements in horse training sports, Sano becoming the first Venezuelan to add 3000 victories in the history of the national horse racing is one of them.

Notoriously known as “the kidnap capital of the world,” Venezuela has high kidnapping rates. Antonio became one of the abduction victims, not once but twice. For the first time, the kidnappers released him a few hours later after cash payments.

In 2009, the trainer was kidnapped for the second time. Seven armed men approached him and held him at gunpoint. Furthermore, they prevented him from contacting his family members for almost a month. Finally, the Sano family paid the ransom of about $320,000, and he was released.

After the two kidnapping cases, the Venezuelan decided to flee the country and went to Italy and eventually to America. He had to give up over 150 of his horses in Venezuela.

When Sano arrived in Florida with zero horses, his friends helped him. And soon, he was able to pick up his pace. The amount that his family had to pay to release him might have made a dent in his fortune. But, with time, it must have been covered with his immense earnings.
